Crippled CEO Blog #117:
A little while back, I posted a daily step-by-step routine for succeeding on Facebook for the Life Saver Pool Fence dealers to follow.
I ran across it recently, and decided it might be helpful for some of you running small businesses, as well.
Obviously, there are some things in here specific to selling pool fence, but you are a smart person. You can substitute those with ideas that work for you.
So, with no further ado, the 8 things you can do every day to win on Facebook.
Step 1: Get up 10 minutes earlier.
Step 2: In that 10 minutes, find and send messages to 3 pool guys, 2 swim instructors, and 1 child-proofer in your area. Like their Facebook page, then send a message asking: “Who do you refer for mesh pool safety fencing?”
Step 3: After you’re showered, dressed, caffeinated, and look presentable, use your phone camera and shoot a 1-3 minute video offering a pool safety tip, or something interesting you’re doing, or a challenge on a job you’re installing. Pretty much literally anything. Once you start doing this regularly, you’ll start seeing/thinking up ideas.
Step 4: Boost that video for $10. Target your local area, and also target parents of infants (0-1), parents of toddlers (1-3), and parents of pre-school age children (3-5). SHARE the video you posted on your business page on your personal page. Ask your wife to share it on hers, too.
Step 5: If you/your installer installs a fence that day, TAKE PICTURES. Walk around and take a video, too. Point out something interesting. Post the pics and video on Facebook –don’t include your number and make it look like an ad. Boost that post for $10 — same audience. SHARE the video/pics you posted on your business page on your personal page. Ask your wife to share it on hers, too. Tag the corporate Facebook page so we can share it, too.
Step 6: While you’re eating lunch, find a post by a pool guy/swim instructor/etc. who refers you, or a pool safety article, or a video from our website, and share that on your business page.
Step 7: At the end of the day, share something we posted on the corporate Facebook.
Step 8: Respond to every Facebook message your business page receives, to every comment your posts get, and thank everyone who shares your posts.
That’s it! Do this each day and you’ll be massively ahead of the competition.
